Schoolhouse belongs to a sister group, Schoolhouse Inc. It was bought in 1960 with funds from its members, mostly also Sub Siggers. It is convenient for outings and skiing in northern Vermont and is located 5 miles SW of Montpelier, VT. The general set-up is similar to the Sub Sig Cabin, but it has room for about 30 people. There is plenty of parking space.

The prime Vermont ski areas of Mt. Mansfield, Mad River, Sugarbush and Bolton Valley are all within 45 minutes driving distance. Cross-country areas at Stowe are very extensive and interconnected: Trapp Family, Mansfield, Top Notch and Edson Hill. Other good XC areas are within reach: Craftsbury Common, and at Sugarbush, Mad River and also at Bolton. Interesting XC trips can be made right out of the front door on old farm roads.

In the summer, the Schoolhouse is a good base for hiking in the Green Mountains, especially Camel's Hump or Mansfield, also for bicycling in the Lake Champlain region. Swimming is available at Waterbury Reservoir and other areas.

There is a new user fee option for the Schoolhouse. The Schoolhouse will offer a YEARLY PASS. There will be 3 types of YEARLY PASSES: Individual, Couple, and Family. A pass will cover all nightly fees, except the heat surcharge if there are 6 people or less, for an unlimited number of stays. The price of the pass is $150 for an Individual, $250 for a Couple, and $300 for a Family. The existing fee structure is still in place for anyone not wishing to buy a YEARLY PASS. The passes will be offered between 1 September and 1 October and be valid from 1 December 2013 to 30 November 2014.
